Sid grew up in beautiful Waynesville, NC where his Mom started Sunburst Realty in 1974. He graduated from NC State University and moved back to the mountains in 1995, eventually joining the family business and expanding Sunburst Realty to Asheville.
He is a Graduate of the Realtor Institute, an Accredited Buyer’s Agent, and has extensive training in green building and sustainable business practices (“Green” designation) in addition to training specific to the marketing and sale of historic properties through the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Sid grew up in an 1890’s Victorian home “under renovation” his entire childhood. This was long before Home & Garden channels and when getting a new home in the suburbs was cool, but he saw how his parent’s hard work made a dilapidated house into a beautiful home and since returning to the mountains has restored a number of homes. He has seen the desire for historic homes and neighborhoods return, and therefore a need for his experience in real estate and more specifically historic homes.
He is co-organizer of The French Broad River Festival which has donated over $150,000 to local charities and has been a long-time Big Brothers / Big Sisters volunteer, a Little League baseball and YMCA basketball coach, Board of Realtors Grievance Committee member, past president of The Asheville Business Leaders Association and above all a devoted husband and father of 2 boys who will soon be old enough to swing a hammer.
